What We Do

  1. Monitor animal cruelty/neglect cases in Kalamazoo County to ensure they are being handled swiftly and accurately.
  2. Monitor court cases to ensure Kalamazoo judges are handing down stiff sentences to the animal abuser.
  3. Increase public awareness on how to report animal cruelty.
  4. Increase public awareness on actions they might take if their animal cruelty complaint has not been handled properly.
  5. Monitor animal legislative issues that affect Michigan animals.
  6. Award law enforcement agencies that are serious about enforcing animal cruelty laws.
  7. Continue being a voice for the voiceless and choiceless animals of Kalamazoo County, Michigan.
  8. Provide emotional support for those who were victims of having their pet abused/killed.
  9. To educate on the link between animal cruelty and other crimes.

A good felony anti-cruelty law should:

* Apply to all animals.
* Apply to first-time offenders.
* Have large fines and lengthy prison time as penalties.
* Have no exemptions.
* Allow or require convicted abusers to get counseling at their own expense.
* Prohibit abusers from possessing animals or living where animals are present.
